Full STEAM Ahead into Summer!

Thank you for popping in to see what SISA is all about! SISA is Southern Iowa STEAM Academy and exists to encourage students of all ages in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts and agriculture and math-- in other words, all the fields that we need them to be educated in for the 21st Century!

You've probably met me, or at least heard your elementary-aged student say hello from across the parking lot-- I am Mrs. Morgan, the lucky lady who gets to come into the school and do Science with your kids. It's the best day of the week-- watching students light up with understanding and excitement about something they just learned or figured out, seeing students try repeatedly to get something to work, listening to students speak like Scientists using words most adults would assume are too big or difficult for little vocabularies.

Really, your kids are amazing. And allowing them the time to try and the opportunity to fail and try again is something that cannot be encouraged enough.

That's why I'm here! The need and desire for STEAM-based programming in this community is tangible and all the students I have worked with want more than what I can provide in those short classes at school.

What can you do? There are several options!

  1. Encourage the little people in your life to be curious and persistent.

  2. Sign up for STEAM Camps at Southern Iowa STEAM Academy!

  3. Support local STEAM programming wherever it happens-- SISA, Extension, School, the Library, even in the backyard!

  4. If you are able, provide financial support to SISA-- we are non-profit and rely on students coming to camp and the financial support of generous members of the community and granting organizations. (SISA is a 501(c)3 organization and all contributions are tax deductible.)

Summer is a busy time, I know; let your young scientists come explore everything from color to root beer this summer while you have a bit of time to breathe and enjoy a bit of quiet! Click over to the Shop tab and choose your camps (based on the completed grade of students) -- many dates, days, times and age groups available!

See you this summer!

~Mrs. Morgan
